    Default Marriage certificates

    Hi,

I am looking for details to get a marriage certificate for Esther Ellen Fisher and Frank Walker.

I believe that Esther may have been born in either 1897 or 1904

I am not sure about frank.

They were both born in the lancashire/ Liverpool area...

Any help would be great as im stuck with this one...

    Hello Ray,

I don't know if this is of any help, but I looked on FreeBMD and found an Esther E Fisher marriage, March Qtr 1927 in Wigan 8c 62 and the surname of the partner is given as ALKER! Now, as it is typewritten, could it possibly have been Walker?? I tried another search but couldn't locate the opposite entry under ALKER/WALKER.

I wasn't able to find anything else.

    Ray,
You have basically asked this question before
    https://www.british-genealogy.com/for...ad.php?t=29820
FreeBMD is a good starting point but when looking for events 1920+ it's a bit hit-and-miss if you strike lucky because the transcriptions for 1920 onwards are still very much a work in progress, so it is better if you refer to the full GRO Index. Which you can do at Plymouth Library. For free, apart from the cost of getting there.
When you say 'im stuck with this one...' have you been to the Library and checked the GRO Index for say, 1920 onwards, up to and including the first quarter in which their first child was born? If so, then you might need to search for a few more years. People can quite easily lie to the Registrar when registering the birth of a child and say they're married when they're not.

(And the Alker Glenys found is Eric, so not a misprint for Walker.)
