Question Tozer and Gay families in Devon

Hi, We are reseaching a James Gay who was said to be a rector at Upton Pyne during the early 1700s. There is however a James Gay who is listed as
father to four children [no wife named] in Meeth around this time and we wondered if it could have been the same person. He appears to have
married in Braunton in 1694 and was related back to the famous Gay family of Frithlestock. Our ultimate hope is to find a link to Martha Gay who was
born in Upton Pyne in 1791 who is in our family line through marriage.

We have also hit a brick wall with the Tozer Family. We have a William Tozer b. abt. 1755 in Devon. He married a Richorde Ferris b. abt. 1760 in Devon. They married as sojourners in Harford Church in April 1780, they were married by banns and the Vicar was also the vicar of Cornwood. We have been trying to find both William and Martha's parents without success. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Hugh, many thanks for info, unfortunately neither of your dates gel in with a birth date for William of 1755, will keep looking! Regards Peggy

Do you have a Mary Ann Tozer born 1830 Dunkeswell in your line? I am trying to find who she married and who her parents were.
Sadly, our friend Vanessa, passed away 29th. February 2012.

Life is brief. Time is a thief.

Hi Vanessa, sorry but the only Mary Ann Tozer I have is a Marianne, born Exeter in 1822 to Martha and Stephen Tozer. Good hunting! Regards, Peggy

Thanks for that, Hugh, will look into it - strange coincidence for the names Tozer and Ferris to appear together, even though they are a long way from home - regards Peggy
