Hi Christine
I really shouldn't winge because I haven't had too bad a run really especially since my dad was adopted but we did know his birth parents names. It is just my great grandmother and her sister who evade me with their birth registrations. I have a couple of wrong certificates so am waiting to win Lotto so I can buy the certificates for every Mary Ann Morgan born in England in the late 1850's. I go through the GRO birth registrations every so often as a fresh exercise. Neither do they show up in the 1861 or 1871 census separately or together that I can be sure of. And their - same - father could be a figment of their mother's imagination. That is all I am certain of - the half truths and down right lies that the greatgrandparents and grandparents told to any form of authority.![]()
Ah well, if I knew it all what would I do on a cold miserable day like today?

Violet Rose Peachey (formerly Towner)
Hi I have stumbled across your thread and recognise my great grandparents and grandfather.
Charles Abraham Peachey & Violet Rose are my great grandparents, Charles Leo Peachey was my grandfather. Stephen Towner was Violet Rose's father. We have the family bible (given to her by her neice Daisy who we believe could have been Clarissa's daughter) started by Violet Rose which lists Stephen's dob as 29.5.1819 and death on 29.4.1902, Elizabeth was born 16.8.1828 and died 22.11.1898. The daughters from that marriage were indeed Clarissa (became a Standen) dob all we have is 1850 no death date recorded, Victoria Augusta Caroline dob 24.9.1862 died 14.9.1931, Henrietta Gertrude dob 18.8.1866 died 26.2.1934.
I would love to know your connection with our family.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Jackie,
Violet Rose is my 2nd cousin, thrice removed
Her mother's maternal grandparents are our common ancestors. And, after popping you in my database as Charles' grand daughter, it tells me that we are 5th cousins.
One can never have too many cousins.
So we share 4th great grand parents - Edward JEFFERY & Lydia HICKMOTT. I descend from son William who married Mary Ann MARTIN and emigrated to Australia with their young family.
How wonderful to have a family Bible from so long ago. I believe you could be right - Daisy would be Clarissa's daughter, she appears to have been born before Clarissa's marriage to Charles Standen, and married as a Towner, not a Standen.
I will PM you my email address,
Christine

Hi JacPac,
I saw your post with dates from your family bible. Just wondered if you know anything of Stephen Towners parents or siblings as in my tree my ggg grandfather was Henry Towner born around 1818 in Brenchley, Possibly Pembury, Haven't got a definite yet as census is a bit varied. But his father was Thomas Towner and i'm trying to narrow down which as the 1841 census has 3 at about the same age living in the same area. So any help would be great.

Hello Nigel
Welcome to Brit-Gen forums. Jackie has made just the one post above and not visited the forum since a few days after that, nor did she contact me directly, so I didn't actually get his parents names, they may not have been included.
Given the birth date of 29th May from the family bible I would be fairly certain that this is Stephen's baptism from the IGI. Searching on the batch number produces 3 later siblings, but not a Henry.
STEPHEN TOWNER
Christening: 27 JUN 1819 Brenchley, Kent, England
Parents:
Father: ROBERT TOWNER
Mother: ELIZABETH
Batch No.: C130942
Hopefully Jackie will spot your post on a search, as she did mine.

Daisy Standen
Hi Jackie,
I came across your thread today and the Daisy you mentioned who gave Violet the bible is my Great-Grandmother. I was so excited to read this as I have really struggled to find out anything about her. I have managed to find out a bit about the Standens/Towners but nothing in particular about Daisy. Do you have any more info? I can confirm that Daisy was Clarissa's daughter b. 10 Jan 1850 in Brenchley d. 17 Dec 1927 in Henwood Green, Pembury. I've got an approximate marriage date of 1876 to Charles Standen whcih was after Daisy was born (8 Nov 1875). I'd love to hear back from you and would it be possible to send me a photograph of the diary please? Thanks very much. Karen, Maidstone, Kent

Hi KayVee,
