    Default Hello everyone

My name is Jane and I live in Up Holland in Lancs. I began researching my family history several years ago but could never find any freetime as I seemed to be continually working. In 2005, I left fulltime employment and spent more time discovering interesting facts about my past.
I'm particularly interested in the following surnames: BLAKE (Plumstead/Kent)
PERKINS (Shrewsbury/Worthen/The Bog/Snailsbeach) WILKINS (Oldbury/West Bromwich) CRABTREE (Birmingham/Oldbury) between 1870-1910. I am also keen to find out about the Earl of Dudley's Hunting Lodge (1800ish) which was located in Ruiton near Sedgley in the Black Country.

    Default hunting lodge.

Thanks for the info. I used to live in the another part of the same house. l I was aware that the house had been divided in the 1920's from one large establishment owned by the Gibbons family into four smaller houses however I had no idea it previously belonged to the Earl of Dudley.

    Smile Bienvenue !

    Hello,
You'll soon see that, although friendly and helpful, genealogists and/or family historians are a nosey lot, and that's how I'm going to start off here! I'm intrigued by your choice of username: sagefemme - were you one?
    Enjoy the forums!

    Hi Nadine,
Mary Elizabeth Crabtree 06/09/1887 born in Oldbury, Herbert born 1861, John Archibald 1889 and Mary 1856. George and Mary were Publicans in Oldbury and lived at The Dog and Pheasant Inn in Flash Road Oldbury in 1899.
Let me know if they have any similarities to your Crabtrees.

    Hello Finbar,
What a small world we live in! I live near the Country Park.
Not sure whether the Morgans have any links to Liverpool yet. I have a Henry Morgan who lived in Livesay, Lancs. I have some connections with Hale and possibly Allen. As far as I know they were located in the Midlands. I need to check and I'll get back to you.
How did you know I was researching Hale and Allen?

Aha! pinned you down straightaway! Definitely wiser than a doctor; they're the ones who decided women were supposed to lie down for it - just so that they could see what was going on ... they have a lot to answer for!

I haven't been wise for years, not since I had all my wisdom teeth out
