    Default Parish Registers

Is there anyone with access to the Parish Registers of Our Lady of Victories in Great Bowden/ Market Harbourgh. If so I would appreciate a lookup for a marriage and whether the husband involved was a Catholic or not?

    Hi Kerrie

I was in Loughborough library today for a flying visit but I did notice they seem to have some parish records for Mkt Harborough.. I'll make a note of what you're looking for and see if I can find anything when I'm back there in the next couple of weeks or so

    Regards

    Hi Prof

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. The marriage I am interested in is for Albert John Watson Miller and Harriett Turner Driver they were married on 22 October 1897. My interest is to see if Albert Miller was a catholic at the time of his marriage to Harriett and who the witnesses were would be extra help. Thank you! I appreciate the offer of the look up.

    Regards

    Kerrie

According to my records, it was not until 1898 that RC priests could be registered to perform legal marriages in their own right. In 1897, a registrar would have to be present and therefore the church would simply not have their own official marriage register.

In any case the official marriage register doesn't contain any information that isn't on the marriage certificate.

Have you checked whether the records have been lodged? I don't see it in the Record Office's list.

I would stick to the marriage certificate if I were you.

Took another look in Loughborough library today and they don't have the parish records for what you want. They'll probably be at the Records Office in Wigston
