I have a most puzzling case of finding an ancestor who died in Renfrewshire Scotland, but her record mentioned her being from Ireland where all along we thought she was a native of Scotland. Her name is Sarah Kirk who married a gentleman named David King from Paisley, Renfrewshire and she passed away in 1862. Her father's name is Thomas Kirk but we have no idea of where to begin looking for information on these two.
Thanks for any help

I found the family in 1861:
26 Well Street, Paisley
David 48 IRL plain weaver
Sarah 40 IRL
William 16 IRL
Ann Jane 14 Paisley
Mary 10
Samuel 4
Robert 2
This was on the Ancestry index.
I also looked for the family in 1851, but nothing came up at first viewing.
To view the image you will have to go on the ScotlandsPeople website. It's pay-per-view. You should also be able to find the births of the children on there.
If you need expert help on Scottish research try visiting TalkingScot (another very friendly forum) http://talkingscot.com/forum
As David and Sarah were both born in Ireland, it might be worth posting a query on the Irish board.

Kirks continued
Thanks for the reply,
We also found that record in 1861, but on David's death record in Mass., US it lists he and his parents as being born in Scotland??? I will try your suggestion though as I am at the end of my rope with this family for now.

You probably have this already, but she died on 9th January 1862 at 26 Well Street, Paisley, aged 42. Cause of death was debility following childbirth. The informant was her son, William King. Father given as Thomas Kirk (deceased) agricultural labourer, mother not known. Married to David King, harness maker.

Yes, I have it
I do have that record and it helps to know all of the family, but I just wish it were easier to find their parents.
