Have you found Mike Attwell's Derrick site?

    http://www.labs.net/Attfield/Derricks/Eindex.htm

I and many others have contributed to his site.

Derrick is my brick wall. William Derrick married in Bath register office in 1881 and said that his father was George Derrick, carpenter and deceased.

William was born about 1862 probably in Bath. I have found him in 1871 where he and another orphan had been "farmed" out to an elderly couple.

The only George Derrick, occupation carpenter and deceased by 1881 was from Keynsham. I can't see how my William could be connected to this George.

My g/g/g/g/grandfather was William Hooper born in 1822 in Stocklinch, Somerset.

He was a master thatcher living in Dinnington in 1851. His wife was Sarah and they had 2 sons Thomas and Charles that I currently know of. Thomas was also a thatcher born in Kingstone 1845. Thomas married Jane (unknown surname) and in 1881 they were living in Dinnington with the following children - Emma, William, Elizabeth A, Mary A, Charles and Susan Alice (my g/g/grandmother). Susan married Ernest George Hutchings in 1891 in Taunton.

The Hodges in my family is my g/g/g/g/g/g/g/g/grandmother Jane Hodges who married Robert Longman on 24th Sep 1722 and lived in Corton Denham, Somerset.

    Hi Stewart...

Sorry, I missed your reply earlier.

My husband's father had Prince on both sides of his parentage.
My husband's gg grandmother was Ellen Prince, born 1829 to John and Jane and then his g grandfather on his Dad's maternal side was Joseph Prince born 1836. All from Wanstrow, but I haven't found the family connection as of yet.

    Sue
