Hi all,
I would like to find out more of my third great grandmother born in Aylton, Herefordshire, about 1817 and married John Guise of Fladbury, in 1840.She died in Droitwich, in 1895, aged 78 years. I am still trying to find her date of birth and the names of her parents. Would appreciate any help in adding to my family line.
Rodney Guise.

Hi,
Do you know where they married? If you could find their marriage then you would get her fathers name. That should help you find him, if he was still alive and the rest of the family on the 1841 census.
Sue
Just a thought her death certificate would also give her date of birth.Last edited by SBSFamilyhistory; 27-03-2008 at 10:47 AM. Reason: add about death cert

Sue,
Have no numbers, unless they are the ones Birdlip mentions in his reply to my post.IE. 18 531. He looked up the marriage which quoted Guise John/ Sarah Cowley Mar 1840 Worcester. My date is earlier but it may be wrong.

Hi Rod,
now thats fooled you, I'm a she not a 'he', but not to worry!
The date I gave you refers to the March quarter, i.e all the marriages that took place Jan, Feb, March of that year. So the date you have for the marriage matches the entry I found.
regards, birdlip/ Jan

Sorry Jan, me and my big mouth. Got me in to trouble again. Will keep searching. One day I may find some relatives still in England.I will start a new thread with Thomas Guise, as it seems he is the only one who stayed behind. Thanks again for your input.

hi Rodney,
You can apply for the certificates on line using the information Jan gave you. I don't know what the cost for overseas requests but on line from the UK is £7 per certificate.
Good luck

Its still seven pounds, including postage to Oz, so a bargain for us, I think.
