    Hi all,
I would like to find out more of my third great grandmother born in Aylton, Herefordshire, about 1817 and married John Guise of Fladbury, in 1840.She died in Droitwich, in 1895, aged 78 years. I am still trying to find her date of birth and the names of her parents. Would appreciate any help in adding to my family line.
    Rodney Guise.

    Hi,

Do you know where they married? If you could find their marriage then you would get her fathers name. That should help you find him, if he was still alive and the rest of the family on the 1841 census.

Just a thought her death certificate would also give her date of birth.

They were married 6th Jan. 1840, in St Peters Worcester. Are marriage certificates online? As I live in Australia I am not sure what action I should take next.

    Sue,
Have no numbers, unless they are the ones Birdlip mentions in his reply to my post.IE. 18 531. He looked up the marriage which quoted Guise John/ Sarah Cowley Mar 1840 Worcester. My date is earlier but it may be wrong.

    Hi Rod,

now thats fooled you, I'm a she not a 'he', but not to worry!

The date I gave you refers to the March quarter, i.e all the marriages that took place Jan, Feb, March of that year. So the date you have for the marriage matches the entry I found.

    regards, birdlip/ Jan

    hi Rodney,

You can apply for the certificates on line using the information Jan gave you. I don't know what the cost for overseas requests but on line from the UK is £7 per certificate.

    Good luck

Its still seven pounds, including postage to Oz, so a bargain for us, I think.
