Recently received FAmily photos have caused confusion within 3 Families, here in Australia & Canada. My fault as I shared them out.
May I ask if anyone has access to Church records in Brighton if they would kindly (very kindly) look up the marriage of a William Martin & Ethel Heater.
If we could ascertain the Martin parents name all may be solved.
All I have is the Jun. 1924 reg. in Steyning -2b-638. Maybe St,Nicholas Brighton as previous Family marriages were officiated there.
For all of us the connection is a bit sideways to be affording more certificates, but we have a puzzle that can't be ignored. I do think I'm a bit cheeky to ask such, hoping someone is transcribing or just dustiing the book.
3 of us very grateful for any assist.
Extremely warm wishes from extremely warm Sth.Australia.
TIA

There would be some two dozen different parishes that came under the Steyning registraton district - none of them in Brighton.
I realise that you'd prefer not to but I think you best bet is to get the certificate.

As a follow up to Peter's reply, take a look at http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/d.../steyning.html and you will see the places covered by Steyning Registration District (courtest of GENUKI)
Best wishes

Thank you Ann & Peter. I was told Brighton, but I see a certificate may be the answer.

Well both may be right in a way.
Quite a few of those places that are in Ann's list of what is covered by Steyning registration district would certainly today be considered part of Brighton. (Hangleton, Patcham, Preston, etc).
But I agree with the others, without a better idea as to which church, I think buying the certificate is your only realistic option.
