Thumbs up BLACKBURN & STAPLES of Waddington

    Can anyone help?
I have been informed that my 5th great grandparents came from Waddington before moving to Lancashire. The info I have is as follows:

Richard BLACKBURN (born 1781 at Waddington) married Elizabeth STAPLES (born 1785 at Waddington) on 22nd October 1806 at Boultham.

Can anyone confirm the above please?

Richard was a labourer and died 1831 at Over Kellet near Carnforth, Lancashire

Elizabeth died 1840 at Over Kellet.

If anyone can provide me with parents’ names places of birth, marriage and death/burial and dates also any siblings I would be very grateful.

    Regards,

    Ivor

Waddington is only a couple of miles from Boothby Graffoe -
Richard BLACKBURN bap BGraffoe 30 Sept 1780 (of William and Mary)

Eliz STAPLES born/bap Waddington 11/13 Feb 1780 (of Alexander and Eliz)

I think the dates you quote are simply assuming ages of 25 and 21 at marriage.

You should be able to find siblings via this site -

Is that a fact or a guess? Could she not have been Eliz STAVENIT 27 Sept 1752 at Bassingham (only 3 or 4 miles from Waddington) dau of Robert and Alice?

Elizabeth STAPLES was buried at Waddington 10 May 1843 "aged 86".

Their marriage was 25 May 1779 at Waddington.

There are several STEVENETT burials and baptisms at Harmston (a mile south ofWaddington) but none at all in Lincoln itself.

The birth was provided to me from someone else, and I have not confirmed if it is correct or not. She could quit possibly be Eliz. Stevanit from Bassingham.

The marriage is a fact as this came from Philmores Marriage Records Vol 8.

    Default Staples - Waddington

Quite a few of the lanes that run between High Street and the Hilltop in Waddington are named after families that lived on them - Capps Lane; Timms Lane; Moxons Lane etc.

Staples Lane actually runs from Moxons Lane to the Hilltop.

    Terry,

Very interesting. Do you think that they are named after a family that actualy lived on that lane/road?

I have to visit Lincoln tomorrow with work so I hope to get the chance to have a quick look around these villages.

    Thanks,

    Ivor
