    Hi Barbara,

    I couldn't find a William Windale anywhere, tried a phonetic search on the surname too. There is a Harold Windale;

    Jun 1912 WINDALE Harold/ WRIGHT Darlington 10a 44

    Also a possible sibling, with mothers maiden name Wright;

    Dec 1913 WINDALE Doris/ WRIGHT Darlington 10a 59

    and two more possibilities, again mothers maiden name Wright. Do you know if the family moved to Carlisle?

    Jun 1917 WINDALE Irene/ WRIGHT Carlisle 10b 1003
    Dec 1920 WINDALE Thomas W/ WRIGHT Carlisle 10b 1153

    regards birdlip

    Sorry Barbara,

    I had a look, just in case one of them had died young, but Windale deaths on freebmd only go back to 1919. More recent deaths are not indexed, so you would have to go painstakingly back, quarter by quarter.

    Looks like you may have to try the Durham board, to see if you can find someone to do a local look up for you. I'm sure the Local studies section at Darlington Library would have more recent burials. Good luck!

    regards birdlip

    Hi barbara

    just found this site, looking into my grandad's history. He is a Thomas William Windale born in Carlisle 1920. He moved to Great Yarmouth many years ago (1947ish) and was married to Edna.

    would you happen to have any further info

    Thanks

    Three years on from birdlip's comment: Ancestry now of course has fully searchable indexes of births, marriages and deaths in England and Wales, 1916-2005. They're not perfect, but often come up with the goods and save lots of tedious searching. I can check them later when I'm at my local library, if Barbara hasn't already found the info she was looking for.

    Hi Barbara,

    I think my granddad T.......... W......... maybe a brother to Harold as he was born in 1920 in Carlisle with mother being Gertrude Wright. Sorry if I have the wrong end of the stick. Know very little of my grandads previous life before he came to Great Yarmouth.

    Thanks

    Matthew
