    Post Benjamine Gregory(Worcester)

    Hello Im Alan,
A newbie age 63 ex R.N and Engineer. And im stuck.
I can trace a line of my my family on the 1841 census to my great.G.Grandfather-Benjamin Gregory.DOB Abt 1805 and wife Eliza? Abt 1811
    and Children-ELIZA 1837-EMMA 1836-HANNA 1834 and PHILIP JESSE 1836 My
great G Father ,all of St Peter parish Worcester. Then they go of the radar on
all the other census.Ican pick up Philip.J. and Emma (Chorley) after they marry, but the rest vanish.I have looked at BMD but with no luck.I know that
side of the family was linked to the Severn-Avon and the Waterways.
Benjamin being a Boat builder and Jesse a lock keeper.Iam not very mobile so
tend to rely on my computer,in which my skills are very Ltd.I should realy call
myself 1 finger.Any help would be most welcom.
    Regards Alan

Benjamin Gregory. Died 16th Feb 1842. Aged 40. Parish St Peter. Worc.
Eliza Gregory. Died 5th Oct 1842. Aged 35. St Peter. Worc
Hanna Gregory. Died 26th Jan 1834. Aged 2 years. St Peter. Worc.
Eliza Gregory born 1837. I have not found her as yet but if she got married you will needed her married name.
The birth dates do not match but the names and the parish do.
So this may be your people.
    Cheers.
    Dave

Thanks David.you managed in minutes, that which I have failed for weeks.
I am puzzled with Hanna who died 1834 though,as she appears age 7 on
1841 census I wonder if they named another child Hanna after the death.
    Regards Alan

It often happens that a dead childs name is used again. I have several where this has been done. Also you may find that the same name is used for other members of the family for their children, which helps to muddy the water when your searching.
    Cheers.
    Dave.

    Hi everyone
Benjamin and Eliza Gregory were my ggg grandparents and I had hit the same brick wall as Alan. I had found the death of Benjamin, but after that I have lost the family apart from Philip Jesse and Emma. After years of looking I am amazed to find the death of Eliza. I would love to be able to find out what happened to the children if both their parents died in 1842.
Is it possible to let me know where the information of the deaths came from? as that may give me a lead. I cannot find Eliza's death on Free BMD.

I am not certain whether the Hanna that died in 1834 is a member of the family as they were still in Tewkesbury in 1834 and had not moved to Worcester. I know that there were other Gregorys in Worcester, but do not know whether they were related. I have not been able to trace the origins of the family. The first record I have is of Benjamin marrying his first wife Sarah in Tewkesbury in 1830. I am fairly certain that Benjamin did not have his origins in Tewkesbury.

I would be very grateful for any help which anyone can give me.
    Ginny
