I'm looking for a man with the surname "Walker" who lived in Carmelite Street, Aberdeen between 1916 & 1918. He could have been lodging with a family called McConochie!! Can anybody help, please? Also, he might have had a sister called Minny Gray (not sure of the spelling) Thanks

I'm looking for information on the Walker family who lived in Castle Terrace in Aberdeen in 1911. The father was John and he was a wood yard labourer. He had a daughter Jessie and sons called Adam & David.

Hi Mrmaccy
To help this along, do you have any more details on John Walker and his children from the 1911 census? Is he in the 1901 census, born abt 1850 in Banffshire, with wife Thrassie and lots of children including Jessie (9), Adam (7) and David (3)?
1901: Parish: Aberdeen West; ED: 6; Page: 22
What specific information you are trying to find on the family?

Adam is probably your best bet to search for as the name is more uncommon.
In Scotlands People you can download images for marriages up to 1935 and deaths to 1960 for a reasonable fee. After these dates you have to send off for extracts which is quite expensive.
Looking at the free indexes there are 2 marriages for an Adam Walker in Aberdeen city between 1920 and 1935 - to a Mary in St Nicholas dist 1923 and to a Jane in Aberdeen dist 1932. I think both of these would be worth checking - but no guarantee that either is yours.
There are 4 deaths of an Adam Walker in Aberdeen city with a birthdate of 1904 plus or minus 3 years in years 1911 - 2004 but unfortunately all are after 1960.
Of course your Adam may have moved away from Aberdeen city or indeed from Scotland.
Hope this helps.

Walkers
Hi,
Thank you for the info, that was really quick. Have just uncovered some more info which is probably the person i'm looking for. John Walker had another son called George who was not on the 1911 census but shows up on th 1901 census, aged 13, which probably means he was born in 1888. Could you possibly let me know of any marriages, family and possible death of George Walker. Thank you so much, and sorry to be a pain!!

Hi again
Sadly there were 34 marriages of a George Walker between 1906 and 1920 in Aberdeen city alone - so it could be a long and expensive job trawling through those. I haven't looked but I expect there are a huge number of George Walker deaths.
There is however only one death for a Minnie Gray in Aberdeen city that I can see - birth year 1900, death 1983 (so not available online). I haven't been able to see a marriage for a Minnie /Minny Walker to a Gray. There is a Margaret Walker marrying a Gray in 1920 in Aberdeen city. Is that possible?
Do you have any other information which might help?

Hi,
Here's all the info i have on George Walker. He was the son of John Walker who was a labourer in a woodyard. On the 1901 Census he is listed as 13, a scholar and living at 8, Donalds Court, Schoolhill, Aberdeen. He does not appear on the 1911 census but his parents and siblings have moved to 18 Castle Terrace. Thanks

Thanks Grisel.
Have found his full name, George Pearson Walker and date of birth, which is 08/04/1887, this would make him 23 when the census was done in 1911.
