    Default Information needed

I am trying to trace my fathers family from County Kildare.
All we know is his fathers name was Henry Sergeant and was born in 1891.
Can anybody advise us where to start looking for his records. This is all my father knows about his family and would love to know more as he is the youngest of 3 and the only one alive.

Anyones help would be much appreciated.

    Many Thanks

    Hi Seamuss
A quick look at the 1911 Ireland census does not give any result for a Henry Sergeant ,and indeed the surname of Sergeant is very rare on the census for the whole of Ireland.
What is your Fathers name, date of birth, place of birth and your mothers maiden name and did they marry in Eire?
This will help to tie down the Sergeants to their birthplace.

Try the Irish Family History Foundation. You need to google for it, as it is a pay per view site, though searching is free.

The Sargents are in Kildare, quite a few of them.

There is a church baptism for a Henry in 1890. It will cost 5€ by credit/debit card to view the details.

There is a Henry Sergeant marriage 4Q 1916 Belfast on the familysearchpilot site. There are a couple of others with the spelling as Sergent, Sergant, Sargent.
Sadly, our friend Vanessa, passed away 29th. February 2012.
