    Default SAMUEL NIBLETT & FAMILY-Joyford-Glos

We are tracing our family history and are looking particulary looking for the Niblett family from Joyford English Bicknor -we have all the cencus details up to obviously 1901-but we undertand that some of them either -
    Alfred born 1896
    William Henry born 1891
    Louisa Mary C ,
lived in the Joyford/Coleford area up to the 1970's possibly in Rock Cottage ?.
We think that Alfred was married twice, his first wife died of dementa and his second wife played the organ in chuch -they had a daughter Doreen ?

Mother Eliza Mary nee Lewis born 1865 in Ross died in 1910 and is buried in the churchyard of Joyford -Christchurch, but as yet we dont have a death date for father Samuel born 1862.

Also we believe that another daughter Beatrice Fanny Myra born 1899 (who is was our grand mother )went to live/work with a family the Gunter/Gunters after her mother died in 1910.
So any idea's please or futher help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks

Tracing a family forwards in time can be tricky, some ideas......

Is Samuel buried nearby - possibly in a family plot?

Try directories such as on the historical directories web-site - others are available for purchase on CD from suppliers such as The Parish Chest.
Genuki for Gloucs has this page on Coleford from 1902 - which includes a NIBLETT entry

If you can find a death for someone, look to see if they left a will - these often contain lots of useful information.

Did anyone die in WW1 or WW2? - try CWGC

Can anyone be identified on the WW1 campaign medal card index on TNA's web-site?

Is anyone a member of the Gloucs FHS who is researching the same name? Do they sell any research aids which may help?

Lastly, a lot of trawling the GRO index will be needed

Geoffers- Have tried all the links thanks no luck-only on the medal cards index there are a few Alfred's but don't know which regiment he was in although I do know he was wounded twice in the back but survived to go home.
    Will keep on looking thanks

Hi there - Alfred Niblett was my Uncle Fred. I remember visting him at Rock Cottage Joyford, in the 1950's where he lived with my Grandmother Daisy, his second wife. Daisy did indeed plat the organ at the chapel at the bottom of Joyford Hill.
I amd certainly not aware of any children from this marriage. Daisy had three children, Dorothy Lee (my mother), Margaret Lee and Joyce Lee.
I have some photos and other info that might be useful to you. Please feel free to contact me.
