    Red face family search

    hi i am a novice, looking for anyone matching names laidlaw, origins ettrick, scotland, and langholm. also savage name origin ireland,and carlisle cumberland[now cumbria] and bolton name origin woolwich. can anyone help? helen blythe

    Helen, can you give a little more information? Maybe some given names and timeframes -- birth, marriage, death dates -- occupations, if you have them, and so on.

    You're more likely to get some "bites" if you add some enticing details!

    hi trish,you say you need more information re my search,laidlaw name.my grandfather was william laidlaw born langholm 1887,his father was thomas laidlaw[coachman]mother ms reid.my grgrandfather thomas laidlaw was born jan 2 1864 townfoot langholm.his father was james laidlaw?born 1842,mother margaret laidlaw[nee latimer]james and margaret were married nov 8 1861 in cannonbie.i am looking for my grgrgrandfather james father and mother.my grgrandfather thomas at one time worked as a coachman for the duke of buccleugh,before moving to carlisle.his father james was a labourer in a brewery.i am told my laidlaw side are descended from william o'phaup laidlaw b 1690/1and his wife bessie scott,[said to be related to sir walter scott.can you please help me in my search.thankyou regards helen blythe
