I am trying to trace relatives post 1901 - if I know which area they lived in what sources would be useful to me? For example I know that family members moved into a particular town - can I trace when they moved there and who they were living with? Is it possible to get an address?

It depends who they were, what they did, where they went or where they lived.
I am sorry but I do not believe that one can generalise. There is more information available in some areas than in others. Also, there are some members of the forum that have a lot of information in a particular area or name or occupation that may be able to help you but would have absolutely no idea about somewhere else.
You need to post more details. Is the town you are referring to - in Cornwall or Scotland or somewhere between?

While I agree in principle with what Mutley says, you need to be thinking in terms of documents such as street and trade directories, electoral rolls and telephone directories. Also perhaps military records from WW1.
If you post names, occupations and places from 1901 you should get some help from the keen 'people hunters' here..

My grandmother Florence Page was born in Chorlton 1899. her Father was Arthur snd her mother was Minnie. Florence married George Sutcliffe in Grimsby in 1920. I have recently discovered that other members of the Page family - Walter being one(who is the brother of Arthur) also moved to the Grimsby/Cleethorpes area. Walter's wife died in 1913 and I believe he moved shortly after this - bringing his family with him. I have always wondered how a young Lancashire lass came to marry a young man From Lincolnshire. What was it that brought the family across the Pennines? The Page family were furniture makers (french polishers, cabinet makers)

As has been mentioned, directories as sold on www.parishchest.com are easy to search and give addresses.I am trying to trace relatives post 1901 - if I know which area they lived in what sources would be useful to me?..........My grandmother Florence Page was born in Chorlton 1899. her Father was Arthur and her mother was Minnie. Tracing birth, marriage and death certificates forward helps to move towards living relatives, give addresses and occupations.
Wills are a useful source, they usually mention family members, relationships and can include adresses.
Did someone die in WW2? - try CWGC
Did anyone serve in armed forces in WW2? - records held at TNA and service records available to direct descendents can be useful.
The usual reason was/is workWhat was it that brought the family across the Pennines? The Page family were furniture makers (french polishers, cabinet makers)
