Hi, I am looking for David Thompson. He would be my husband's great granddad. The only information we have on him came from his son's birth registration.
David Thompson - marine engineer - father
Evelyn Elizebeth Thompson - formerly Johnson - mother
Their son
David Gerard Thompson (my husband's granddad) born November 22, 1902 136 Jubiee Drive, West Derby
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ann

West Derby is one of the registration districts of Liverpool. I can't find a marriage between David & Evelyn anywhere. Neither can I find them on the censuses. Were there any other children born to this couple? Do you know where & when Evelyn was born & died? As a marine engineer, David may well be away at sea at the censuses.

David Thompson
Hi Tribi and Wirral,
Thank you both so much for your time and replys. My husband's granddad was very secretive and would NOT speak of his family. We have little information on him. What we do have is a copy of his birth certificate which reads.....
David Gerard Thompson (grandfather) born Nov. 22, 1902 West Derby
Father - David Thompson - marine engineer
Mother - Evelyn Elizabeth Thompson - formerly Johnson.......why would it state "formerly" instead of MS???
David Gerard Thompson came to Canada where he went by the name of David Harcourt. On his marriage certificate he lists his father as being James Harcourt - mother Evelyn Johnson.
thank you
Ann

"Formerly" is the usual term for the maiden name of a women in an English birth certificate. In Scotland they use M.S.
Have you tried the Marine & Overseas Births & Marriages Indexes?
