I am trying to find a trace of my 2xg-grandfather Thomas Brough who was possibly born in Dublin about 1824. I have his army records which state his age and place of birth. He went with the army to Australia and finally New Zealand in the 1850s where he stayed after taking his discharge. I have been unable to find any trace of his birth although there are others of that surname in Dublin in the 1860s. He was Catholic and his father was possibly a coachman named John but that is all the info I have. He married in about 1845 possibly, while in the Shannon area to a Sarah Carroll when the regiment was there. I am only basing this on the birth of their first child born at sea while on the convict ship to Tasmania - he was one of the guards. Any help would be appreciated
