    Default RE:ROBERT WALLACE BARCLAY

I wonder if anyone can help with the following:-
My great grandfather, Robert Wallace Barclay, was supposed to have been born on 1st February 1848 in Banchory,Kincardinshire,Scotland but I cannot find any trace of his birth in the records in Scotland.
Also I believe his parents were a James Barclay and a Elsie Claire Drummond and there again I cannot find any trace of them in the records.
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks Bob Goodlad

I had a quick look on Scotlands People, but, as you say, there is no birth for Robert on 1/2/1848. There are only 4 Robert Barclay births in 1847/48 and none in Kincardine.

Are you quite sure he was born in Scotland? I ask this because my father always said my grandfather was born in Scotland, but though his parents were, he himself was born in Sunderland.

I tend to use another forum (sshhh, don't tell the others!) for Scottish research https://talkingscot.com/forum/index. It is just as friendly and helpful as this one and there are a lot of knowldegeable people there.

Have you found him in the 1851 census?
