Just wondering if there is anyone out there who can help me? I've also posted on Sutherland forum too, as the border seems to change every so often.In my family tree so far I have the following names in mine;MACKAY,SCOTT,FRASER,MANSON,KING,MCPHERSON,NIC HOLL.
The places vary from STRATHNAVER,TONGUE,MELVICH,BETTYHILL,THURSO,REAY VILLAGE,DUNNET,
NEIL MACKAY married RUPERTINA SCOTT;-Children were;-
HENNY1838
COLIN 1841
Salmon fisherman WILLIAM 1830-1913
BARRIE 1830
JOHN 1828
WILLIAM married JJANE FRASER 2/1/1857
They stayed in the Village of REAY, Caithness[house next to joiners shop.

WILLIAM & JANE [Twins] 1864
NEIL 14/7/1865-1955 [footman to Queen Victoria]

WILLIAM 10/7/1869 MOVED TO USA
RUPERT 25/4/1871-1930 [painter at Sandside]
ANNIE 1874 married Alexander McPherson

JANE FRASER MACKAY1893-1938 married Jim Calder-THURSO
JOHN MACKAY1895-1971 married Hilda Moore
WILLIAM MACKAY married JESSIE MACKAY[ b 1885 Strathy] at Helemsdale1918
children;- MARGARET KING MANSON MACKAY [PEGGY]1918 DUNNET?
ALEXANDRINA MACKAY [LEXIE] 1920 DUNNET?
COLIN FRASER MACKAY 1922,HAM,DUNNETMy father
JESSON MACKAY 1924 DUNNET?
JESSIE died about 1926/7 burried HALKIRK Ithink, can anyone confirm this?
WILLIAM died about 1967/9 also burried HALKIRK,
JESSIE MACKAY was born in Strathy 1885 her parents were WILLIAM MACKAY and ALEXSANDRINA GRANT. I don't have much information on Jessie's side of the family.
when Jessie [my gran] married William[Billy] she had a son called WILLIE-JOHN MACKAY and possibly another SON? they would have been my fathers half brothers. Jessie worked for the Rutherfords at Craggie,Kildonan Farm around 1917 ?
any info, on any part of my family tree . I would be very greatful.

Sheena, do you have any record a Barbara MacKay born at Reay or nearby Thurso about 1805 who went to canada and married a Peter Angus?

Barbara Mackay
Hi Michael,
As yet I have no record or a Barbara Mackay, but I have got two sets of Mackay's who married each other and she is defo. not in grandfathers side, not got very far with the my grandmothers side of Mackay. if I do come find a Barbara i'll let you know. good luck hunting your Mackay's
