    Smile Poyner - Cleobury Mortimer

I'm looking for help in finding out a bit more about my great grandmother, Gwendoline Mary Poyner. All I know about her at this stage is that she was born in the Qtr ending Mar 1895 in the District of Cleobury Mortimer and that she married my great grandfather, Arthur Birch in the District of Kidderminster in the Qtr ending Jun 1918 and had their first child, Gladys, that same year, my grandfather, Wilfred John in December 1919 and several more children throughout the years including Anthony in 1932.

All I know about her death is that she died in the early 1960's when she was hit by a truck.

I have also found an Ernest G Poyner born Qtr Mar 1915 also in Cleobury Mortimer, whose mother's maiden name was Philpotts but cannot tie Ernest and Gwendoline together as yet.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards
    Vetsy

    Hi Vetsy

A death is registered in the Mar Quarter of 1961 for:

    Gwendoline M. Birch – Age 66 – Reg. District: Kidderminster Vol 9d Page 199

Whilst tragic that she died in an accident, it does at least mean there should have been an inquest and these normally get printed up in the local newspaper(s). Archive copies of which are often found in a local library or County Archive.

    Good luck.

    John
