Can anyone tell me anything about this shop.

The News Box, Corporation Rd, Newport, Gwent

I do not have a year. The proprietor was Thomas (Tommy) Davies. He had a son, William born abt 1913 and two daughters Edith and Brenda. I do not know if there were other children and I do not know the wife.

A friend has asked me to "look them up" and I would love to do him the favour but as a Londoner, I do not have a clue!!!

I suppose you could "look them up" in the "Cardiff, Newport & District Trades Directory, 1914" at http://www.historicaldirectories.org/ but it's not very informative (it shows newsagents K Davies at 12 Commercial Rd and W J Edwards at 167).

Perhaps you'd better ask them what it is they want to find out

That site was interesting.

I think he would like to know if it was true that the family had the shop. He does not have any relatives to ask and is new to the hobby. Any information would be appreciated.

BTW I now know that Thomas Davies married Elsie Taylor in 1912 in Newport so presumably occupation would be after that date.
