Default When did Christmas become Happy?

Until a few years ago it was always "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year"

This week I have received 3 unsolicited Christmas catalogues, which all wished me a Happy Christmas.
It is bad enough that it is only mid-September but this Happy this, Happy that lark for anything & everything, really gets on my nerves

Perhaps it is just me showing my years

If they are that late they are probably for Christmas 2008

I know what you mean, but be thankful it's Happy Christmas and not Happy Holidays.

Maybe I only see old people with old fashioned speech habits when I go to England.

I thought it was always Happy Christmas over there and Merry Christmas over here. One of those " two countries separated by a common language " thing like bum bags and fanny packs

"This week I have received 3 unsolicited Christmas catalogues"

Do they have a "Freepost" envelope for your order?
If so, fill it up with as much tat as possible and send it back - it'll cost them for the postage.

Meryy Christmas and a happy new year - that's right, that's what it always has been, at least it has in this house and it will continue that way for as long as I draw breath...

Oh and yes I am mrs grumpy today cos I have been searching for a box of fabric christmas crackers to take to the craft fair on Sunday and I just remembered that I gave them away as gifts last christmas. Now I have to make some more - quickly and some more mini stockings too cos I had sold more than I thought. Bah Humbug!

My local Co-op has got Christmas stock on the shelves already- aaaargh! The trouble is that some of the things I normally buy there have disappeared as a consequence

You can blame it on the Beatles and Paul Bl**** McCartney
    and their 1963 Christmas message

Ditto here in Tesco. The Co-op has some rather nice-looking chocolate biscuits in a box marked "Christmas" - but as it's part of their current BOGOF promotion, do I care?

I REFUSE to be lured into stocking up for Christmas in September. I KNOW that the goods on sale later have probably already been produced, but somehow the thought of biscuits that have been hanging around for four months does not appeal
