Hi Bo Peep
One I've raised before. The New Posts menu at the top of the home page occasionally does an odd thing. Instead of opening all the posts since I last looked in (usually the day before) it opens with just two "house notices". It did so this evening. Is there any reason for this and if so can it be fixed/I fix it...please?
I guess like many fans of the site I tend to use New Posts to see everything rather than simply drill down to my usual threads. That way I get to keep up with everything that is going on in a very simple way. So when it doesn't respond I have to go into every likely thread "by hand", which being an idle s*d irritates me.
cheers

The only reason that I can think of that would prevent a display of the new posts would be that the british-genealogy.com cookie has been deleted from your computer. This can happen depending on the configuration of some other third party software such as Norton, which can be set to delete cookies and offline files on exit from Windows Explorer.
The cookie knows who you are, and the forum software then recognises you and your last visit time and post number.
Other than that.... I have no idea either, because I have never seen the problem you describe. Methinks this is going to be a hard one (if not impossible) to track down.
Regards
Rod

Thanks for the ideas Rod but I don't think that it's that, partly because I haven't been adding software but mainly because it is intermittent i.e. it works OK for me tonight.
I certainly wouldn't spend too much time looking for it. My main gripe is that on the nights when it is happening it seems to stay that way for the evening whether or not I log out and go back in again. However since there is a work around i.e. the specific thread search, it is not a catastrophe.
