Bridgers of Tillingtn

Hi everyone,
My 2 X Great Grandfather, George Bridger was born in Tillington, Sussex in 1815. His parents were John Bridger & Hannah Quelch.
George moved to London and married Morgan Ann Linton in 1842. She came from Somerset.
Anyone else tracing this family or a Bridger from around this area?

Roy, I have the Bridger X Champion post just above yours. I too am looking for Bridger, but as a first name. My Bridger Champion was married in Findon in 1745, not far from your seach area. Wonder if there is a connection as there are many Bridger families in that area. Get back to me if you think this may have possibilities.

Looking through the 1841 census for Tillington, I noticed that there were several Bridger families who mostly seemed to be 'Farmers'

I spotted your John (Ag Lab) & Hannah as listed below, but could not see a 26 year old George anywhere - have you any idea when he moved to London?

Thanks for that but I have already got it.
The trouble is that I don't actually know when George came to London. The first mention of him I found was his marriage in 1842. This was in Clerkenwell but he must have lived in Bermondsey because that's where his first children were born. By 1851 he'd moved to St Pancras and by 71 was living in Willesdon. So, you see, he moved around a lot

Hi Sonny,
I am descended from a BRIDGER family from Tillington - also John BRIDGER - but the man you need to sort out who what and where is my cousin Geoff BRIDGER. he has done all the research on that branch of the family. I don't want to put his email addy on here without his permission but I will email him adn get him to take a look. He still lives in Sussex so he is very close to the family roots
