I have just recieved my great grandfather, JOHN MAUNDER'S birth certificate 29 / 09 / 1839 which has given me the names of my great, great grandparents.
They are WILLIAM and MARY ANN MAUNDER nee DINNER of St. NEOT.
DINNER is a name that I haven't come across before.
Has anyone any knowledge or information on this name.
Ken.

Joseph David Maunder b 1799 Honiton on Otter, Devon, England Married a cornwall lass Elizabeth Downing Crocker. If you happen to run across any connection to Joseph and why he visiting cornwall to meet and marry a cornish gal would much appreciate it

Yep that is my lady Probem is I have little on her other than her parents name. Dont suppose you have any siblings for her.
Do have a vague link to a Richard Crocker b1845 and Matilda Crocker b1833
listed as cousins living with Elizabeths son in 1851 census. Would like to find out exactly how they are connected.

The IGI has a marriage in St Neot between William Maunder & Mary Ann DINNES on 3 Jun 1837. (Possibly a mis-reading)
Here are John & Mary Ann in 1851
Dorothy Crago Head W 83 Pauper St Pinnock, Cornwall
Mary A Maunder Niece W 43 Dressmaker Liskeard, Cornwall
St Neot Village, St Neot, Cornwall

This could well be William's death

As a long shot this could be the Maunders, unfortunately HO107/153 Book 14 is missing from A* so I've had to rely on the COCP transcription.

There is only one Dinner baptism in Liskeard for a James Every Dinner but the are several in St Pinnock, the neighbouring parish, (including the same James' children).
They include a Maryane Dinner daughter of John & Wilmot 20 Apr 1806. (CD of St Pinnock baptisms from Cornish Forefathers).
I also found this extracted marriage in the IGI
JOHN DINNER/WILMOT QUILLER 29 APR 1805 Saint Neot, Cornwall
If this is the right Mary Ann Maunder then her birth would be about 1806
