Heighway, Madeley

I'm trying to find out more about the ancestors of Francis Humphreys Heighway, born c. 1820 in Madeley (and emigrated to New Zealand in 1863). I think his parents are William Heighway and Maria Felton. I would appreciate any information that members are able to provide.

You could confirm his father's name by purchasing a copy of his Marriage Certificate. I located the marriage on the GRO Index , took place in Wellington District Sept 1/4 1841 Vol 18 Page 229. A copy of the Certifcate can be obtained online from
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

I also found on the iGI his Baptism , on 13 AUG 1820 , at Madeley Parish Church, parents listed as Wm Heighway and Maria.

If you have a Family History Centre at your nearest Latter Day Saints Church, you can order the film of the Parish Records , to view. Its possible you may locate earlier HEIGHWAY records on the same film!

Just wanted to add a little info, in case it is of any value to you - Dorothy Jean Heighway - born 1906 (and married Frederick Francis Haron) was well known to me, and was one of my high school teachers at Gosford NSW Australia in 1964 and 1965. She died in September 1965 at Gosford - I think she is the daughter of Francis Douglas Heighway (1876 - 1953), and her mother is Florence Grace Heighway (died 1978)at about 84 years of age.
