We've traced our ancestors back toJames Stokes, c. 1796-1875, m. to Mary b. 1791. James was born in Ellesmere, Flintshire, Shropshire and worked as a blacksmith. He and Mary had 3 children: John (c. 1821), Thomas (c. 1826) and James (c. 1826). John (m. Elizabeth nee Allport) is our direct line that we have traced successfully.

We are having trouble with John's brothers Thomas (m. Elinor; ch:Mary b.1846) and James (m Eliza b. 1828; ch: Mary Ann, Pamel(i)a, Emily).

John and Elizabeth had 6 sons and 2 daughters.: William, Hannah, Sara, Thomas, James, Henry, George, Richard. Except for Richard, we are having trouble locating the rest of his siblings.

Besides blacksmiths, the listings show gardeners/farmers, and cabinet makers in Birmingham.

Does any of this connect with your line?

    Yes qltr.

    James 1795 is my 2x G.GF
    I am descended via
    John Souney 1821
    John 1861
And John Henry, my father, 1908

We appear to have discrepancy at John Souney
My records show him married to Ann Davies 1846 Wem RD
Their children were Colin 1846, Edwin, Sarah Ann, Alfred and John.

I have the same detail for John’s brothers Thomas and James

Occupations were blacksmiths changing to wheelwrights and my own father was Carpenter and Joiner.

Corresponding in detail via this site is difficult. If you would like to email me on portzed AT btinternet DOT com it might be easier. I use Genes Reunited and Family Tree Maker 2005 as my master.

    Thanks for contacting.
    Regards
    John

    Default john souny

Although I will also send another email, just wanted you to know that I understand who John Souny was and where he fits on the tree. Therefore, ignore my first email. It's amazing. It makes sense now. Thank you so much. It will take me some time to figure out how we are related.
