I am hoping someone may be able to help in my research. I am looking for any information about Ann Nowlan(Nolan),born around 1818 in Castledown Carlow, According to some information I have she was transported to Australia in 1844.
Any new about her family would be great.

    Regards Dexter

    Hello Dexter,

Have not searched specifically for Ann but any of these sites may have her or will give you an insight into searching about transportation. Maybe an Australian member will know of inward passenger lists for convicts.

    Hi Dexter

Do you know her parents names?
Do you know what part of Australia that she went to?

and having said that, I checked the Tasmania Archives site...

    http://www.archives.tas.gov.au/

choose Name Indexes from menu on left
    then Index to Tasmanian Convicts

    we get

Anne Nowlan, left the Port of Dublin 7th March 1844
ship Greenlaw arrived Tasmania, 2 July 1844.

    from Tasmanian Pioneer Index

    James PICKETT, age 29
    married Ann NOLAN, age 27
    5 Sep 1848
    registration place Longford district,
    no: 2150/1848 RGD 37

age a little out, but maybe she did not know for sure

I'll look up the kids later - though you can probably find them on that same website - further down the list is "Colonial Tasmanian Family Links Database".

    I gotta go

Children in the Pioneer index, forenames not recorded except for one.

    PICKETT, James, birth, 25 Feb 1852, Westbury - reg 652/1852 RGD 33
father: James; mother's name not recorded

    PICKETT, male, birth, 11 Sept 1853, Westbury - reg 1212/1853 RGD 33
    father: James; mother: Anne NOWLAN

    PICKETT, female, birth, 5 Nov 1854, Westbury - reg 1343/1854 RGD 33
    father: James, mother: Ann NOLAN

    PICKETT, male, birth, 1 Jan 1857, Westbury - reg 2047/1857 RSD 33
    father: James, mother: Ann NOLAN

The cd goes to 1899, but I see no further sight of them. No obvious sign of them in Victoria.

    Dexter

I visit Longford and Carlow relatives every so often. Also being in Ireland, I suppose its easier to ask around as well as recognise relevant information. Cannot promise anything concreat but would you like me to try?
