I'm probably asking the impossible, but here goes.
I am having such problems with finding my gt. grandfather and his father. This is what I know.
John Jarvis b. c1823 married Emma Robbins b. c.1823 and married in 1842 in Buckingham, Bucks. On the marriage cert. his father was named as John GREEN! They had a son Alfred Strong Jarvis in Bucks. in 1846 and from there on I cannot trace either John or Emma. They were not in Bucks. in 1851 as I searched the Census. I next find Alfred Strong Jarvis in Chelsea when he married in 1864 and John was shown as Dec'd. I have found Alfred and family on the 1871 and subsequent Censuses, but here is the query.
I now believe that Emma died the year Alfred was born and I'm trying to check this out. I have applied for a death certificate for John, whom I also believe died 1850, which is why I cant find them on any Censuses. Where was Alfred Strong Jarvis in 1851? The family all appear in Chelsea from 1871 onwards and I believe that they were there earlier. Either in Kensington or Chelsea. Who was Alfred living with as he had no parents? Does anyone have access to 1851 for Kensington or Chelsea? I would be so grateful to sort this sad picture out.
Glenys.

1851 Census Alfred Strong JARVIS
Hi,
My mother's maiden name was STRONG.
All the oldest sons have the name Alfred Nelson STRONG.
I would love to see where this Alfred Strong JARVIS man was on the census or any more information you have on his mother.
Our STRONG's come from Rotherhithe and were mariners or watermen.
cheers,
Brenda

Like you.....I would love to find Alfred Strong Jarvis on the 1851 Census but so far have been unable to gain access. Our local library doesn't order in fiche or film, and I am unable to travel further afield. I am patiently awaiting the release of a CD in due course.
I feel that my Alfred Strong Jarvis does have some connection to a family of Strong (otherwise why did he have that middle name) but so far, I cannot find a link. His mother Emma Sophia Robbins, I suppose could be the connection rather than Alfred (or his father John) but again, I have so far been unable to gain any further information.
If I do come across anything that points your way, I will certainly let you know.
Glenys
