Hi all,
I wonder if anyone could help me. I have obtained the death certificate of my 3x Great Grandmother and it states that she died on 22nd August 1866 in the New Bridge Street Workhouse in Manchester. Her name on the certificate is Elizabeth McKeoun (the surname has various different spellings - McKeon, McEwen etc.).
Does anyone know if there are any records for this Workhouse that might possibly give me some more information about her. I would very much like to know her husband's name if it is listed and when she was admitted to the Workhouse in an attempt to find out a little more about her.
Many thanks to anyone who might be able to help me with this,
Jane

This might give you a bit of info about records and where they are held, however I don't think many survived.

Some valuable records have survived...but sadly not for the period in question. They have Creed Registers from 1881 onwards.

Many thanks to you both for your replies. It is sad that no records survive but you have certainly saved me a lot of time searching for them!
Thanks again,
Jane

That saves an amazing amount of time as it's a dead link

Sorry. I knew that once and had completely forgotten.
