    Question RICHARD COCK - Publican

My trail has come to a stop and RICHARD seems to have disappeared. I have his daughter Ann Sophia Cock's marriage certificate and I have the foll info.

Ann Sophia was born in Madeley or Dawley around 1848. She married James Wardle (also from Dawley) in 1867 at The Birck Meadow Chapel in Madeley in the county of Salop. They must have later moved as they are shown on the 1891 census as living at Newton Heath, Manchester. Their marriage cert shows Ann's father as RICHARD COCK, Publican but I can't seem to find him on any census.

Any help or clues would be appreciated.

    Thanks Anne

    Bumblebee.

UPDATE - I cannot see them in 1861 but I notice there must be some pages missing from the Dawley Census on Ancestry. In one place it jumps from No. 179 to 192 and the pages are very torn.

I think Anne means, Birch Meadow (Baptist) Chapel in Broseley/Madeley - not Chapel Broseley the place...

    Thumbs up

    Bumblebee and bristolloggerheads -

thankyou so much. Yes it is Birch Meadow Chapel, Broseley as you both say, it was difficult to read on the certificate that I have but looking again I can see that it is.

Your help is very much appreciated, the census info from bumblebee is great and gives me lots to work on now. What a great forum this is.

    Thanks again to you both
    regards
    Anne

Thanks sgd - an iteresting piece of information. If she is listed in a directory, would this mean she sold from a pub or could she have sold from her home I wonder?
