    Default James Holden-Blackburn

Is there SKS with access to St Mary's registers who could look for the marriage of James Holden to Maria Jackson in 1855?

BTW, as a bribe, sorry, inducement, I shall be visiting Manchester Central Library this week.

    James Holden

Is this the same James Holden (born 1835) to be found on the 1881 census in Withnell married to Jane? I believe he is my great great grandfather and would be delighted to find any information about him.

Hi Carole, no he's not, my James was born c1826 in Wheelton. There is however a strong possibility that there is a connection as Wheelton and Withnell are close. I'm sitting in an internet cafe at the moment with nothing but my hazy memory so rather than mislead you I shall draw this thread to the attention of the head researcher aka "Cornishmaid" aka my big sis.

    Hi Carol

Its your lucky day, well, slightly.

I do in fact have a marriage cert for James Holden and Jane,( living in 1881 at Brinscall Terrace Withnell, with children John Joseph Isabella and Walter.)

This is one of the many, many wrong certs I have purchased in the pursuit of the elusive James H born c 1826 in Wheelton.

You can have the cert if you want it, for the price of the postage, or I can give you all the details if you would prefer? (It is not actually a very helpful cert....)

    Regards

    Cornish Maid
