Didn't like to waste space on the chatter page, but just wanted to know how you enjoyed your trip up the Nile and the Red sea? Hope it was as exciting as it sounded!

Hi Glenys
It was absolutely wonderful! We saw/did everything - Luxor, Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Pyramids, King Tut's treasures at the Cairo Museum, Petra, 4-wheel drive in the desert, snorkelling in the Red Sea. Petra was the best of all - all the images I have seen before still do not prepare you for the sheer scale. The Treasury (which is the usual shot seen) is only a fraction of the site.
The ship was great, the food excellent & the staff friendly & attentive, weather perfect, we upgraded to a suite, so that was very comfortable, we made lots of friends, took about 900 photos (great things digital cameras).
Driving through the countryside was amazing - the most common form of transport is still the donkey. Bedouins on camels in the desert - on their mobile phones! Where were the phone masts? - I never saw one anywhere - but they managed to get a signal even in Petra.
Drawbacks - only one - we shouldn't have made personal comments about the mummies, 'cos we have both been hit by their revenge since coming home.

"Drawbacks" Oh dear, there is always something to take the shine off isn't there? Never mind.....I am so glad that you had such a wonderful time....I'm envious as is sounds really great. I bet the photos are good too, perhaps we can see a couple sometime....or will that clog the site up again?
