I find that those three cover most things - then you can get into more detailed stuff using old online ones, and, of course "London maps through the ages" from Archive CD Books.
A modern map on its own is no use - try finding St George in the East on a modern A-Z and you'll be lucky. The name has (apart from the actual church) fallen out of use so much that even most Londoners don't seem to know where it is. A Hawksmoor churches friend of mine, born Camden then later moved to Islington, no country bumpkin, commenting that it was the only one she hadn't been to, was, on the basis of the "Cannon Street Road" address given in various references, intending to head for Cannon Street station in the City and start looking until I put her straight!

On line Geographical Map
I go along with that, as far as parishes and the "old" boroughs are concerned, but for the general layout of London, the map in the front of the A-Z is a good starting point, especially if you want to know if Hammersmith is anywhere near West Ham !!

Yes I agree that a book would be the better option but you must remember finding an A-Z of London at a garage sale here in Adelaide South Australia would not be a common thing. Even the local historical society doesnt have anything related to london maps...all Mount Barker (where I am from) and Adelaide. They dont even have a Melbourne or Sydney one!
I have been to the state library and they do have wonderful books with maps in them, but they are not for loan; the woman there yesterday wasnt even sure if I was allowed to photocopy anything!!
thanks for the thoughts though.
I did find on ParishRegister.com useful information.
cheers Jo

Hi Jo,
Depending on how much you want to spend you should be able to get a map from any of the large book stores in Adelaide. Angus & Robertson for example (on line) have a London Street Atlas for $22.95.

On-Line Geographical maps
Sorry Jo, thought Adelaide being the cultural centre of Oz, that it would have been available somewhere along the line. Admitted I havent seen any up here in Bundaberg either, but then I havent been looking. Had a quick look at ebay and found several at what I thought would have been a reasonable price, even including the postage.
Cheers..Ed
