Default Henry T. Pettett - Ancestors

I have hit the brick wall for several years with regard to parents, grandparents of my GG grandfather, Henry T. Pettett, b. 11/9/1813 in Rye, d, 2/1/1892, Dwight, Illinois, USA, m. Mary Ann Standen, 11/7/1836, Hollington.
    Children:
    James Henry Pettett, b, 12/24/1838, Hollington, d, 4/20/1844, Hollington
George Thomas Pettett, b. 6/11/1841, Cuckfield, d, 11/4/1931, California, USA
    Matilda Ann Pettett, b. 9/15/1843, Hollington, d, 4/10/1856, Hollington
    John Alfred Pettett, b, 12/20/1846,Hastings, d, 6/19/1917, Illinois, USA
Henry Sidney Pettett, b. 12/20/1848, Hastings, d, 6/29/1937, Illinois, USA
    William Herbert Pettett, b, 9/25/1850, Hastings, d. 6/24/1853, Hastings
Howard Charles Pettett, b, 5/19/1854, Hastings, d,8/17/1919, Illinois USA
After several years, the only possibility that looks close, but not proved, is a James and Elizabeth Pettett, he being born abt. 1791, who had 6 children, James Howard, Charlotte, Henry, Alfred, Selia & Margaret. This Henry's christening was in 1814.
Any help or direction where I should be going will be greatly appreciated.

Well 5 years later.......better late than never so they say...I am researching Alfred Pettett born 6 Feb 1818 to James & Elizabeth Pettett. Our Alfred was court martialled in Drummonville Canada 27 April 1840 for desertion. He was with the 43 Infantry. Sentenced to 14 years in Van Diemans Land. He married another convict, Caroline Storey (who is in herself another story) in 1846. May not help you directly but at least in the same book, if not on the same page..Let me know how you are going with your research on this family.
Could help us both if I'm not too late.
