Re: Southbroom VALLIS Family
Many Many thanks Peanut. Couldn't get on the internet yesterday to thank you earlier...some problem with my ISP....

From IGI I also noted that there appears a baptism of an Elizabeth Vallis on 10 OCT 1830 @ Southbroom St. James, d/o Richard and Charlotte - as I have no other details of any other Vallis families living in the Devizes/Southbroom area around that time, I wondered if the Richard above could possibly be related or William (with another name) or alternatively be a transcription error?? I ask as Elizabeths baptism date falls smack in the middle of all of Williams children....and I havn't been able as yet to trace Richard/Charlotte...
Any info gratefully appreciated...HiFly

hi
I had a look on the parish records Devises Southbroom and just the one Vallis family i also think that Richard could be a mistake it says Richard and Charlotte Shoemaker same as William
On the 1841 census index i found this family
Vallis William age 50
Vallis Charlotte age 50
Vallis Edward age 18
Vallis William age 16
Vallis James age 15
Vallis Elizabeth age 10
Vallis John age 7
Vallis Ann age 4
on the 1841 census the ages can be out by a few years, this family are in what comes under Pottern and Canning district, the above family are all together and is from my name index having trouble finding them on the actual pages writing a bit hard but will keep looking if you want but it wont tell me any more than what is above

Thanks/Finish!!!
Thanks Peanut - consider closed....as you said with that 1841 census info it looks fairly conclusive...especially with Elizabeth's age being so close!
Thanks again (sends box of chocs to peanut) - HiFly
