    Default Turner, William Charles 1900

I hope this is posted to the right place, I apoligize if it isn't. I haven't figured out how to use this system yet. I'm making the switch from the London mailing list. Looking for advise on how to track down William Charles Turner born 1900 Hackney and his decendants. Death cert for his mother Emma (Nee Adams) Butterfield (Turner) in 1961 shows he was living at 69 Leyswood Drive Newbury Park ? Ilford County of Essex Emma's husband Arthur John Butterfield had predeceased her. William had 2 brothers, Albert and Hubert, his father's name was William Albert Turner.
    Thanks Sharon

    Sharon,

The best place for this request would be the London Main Forum at http://www.british-genealogy.com/for...play.php?f=103. I'm not a regular there myself, but it seems to be fairly well travelled by many. Alternatively, the Essex forum at http://www.british-genealogy.com/for...splay.php?f=82 may be able to help. I'd try both! Good luck in your search.

    Regards, Neil

    Default William Charles Turner

    Hi Lottie,

Yes that is the right family on the 1901. Emma remarried an Arthur John Butterfield and they lived at 19 or 10 Warr Rd or Wann Rd or Wain Rd Ilford Essex. Her son William Charles Turner lived at 69 Leyswood Drive Newbury Park in 1961. Are there any voting polls etc available for this time period to move the search forward?

There are Electoral Rolls available, but for women , only from c1929.
I suggest that the people who subscribe to the London Forum will have a beeter idea ,than I, of the records available to assist your search after 1901. The 1911 Census will not be released until Jan 2012.

My G-Grandfather is Arthur John Butterfield, b abt 1881. He married Emma Green nee Hepplewhite and my grandfather was born in North Finchley in 1906.

Is this a different Arthur John Butterfield marrying someone named Emma? I have my grandfather's birth certificate, which gives these details.

    Hi John,

It could be the same Arthur John Butterfield I have some details that might eliminate the possibility or confirm it. Do you know when your Arthur died? Do you have his death certificate? I quess it would also depend on when your Emma died. My Emma and Arthur were married when she was 79 and he was 76 in August of 1958. The marriage cert says he was a bachelor, but who knows if he was ever married before. His occupation was an Omini Bus driver for the L. P. T.B. His address was 4 Willyotts Close Potters Bar Middlesex at the time of his death. I have a feeling he had a home for years and kept it after he married and they may have lived at Emma's house. They may also have married just to give Emma his pension. He died a year later in a traffic accident August 19 1959. He was crossing the A. 6 road at South Mimms when he was hit by a car. It was known by my father that he and Emma were dating even in the 30's. They nicknamed him 'Buttercup'. Emma's maiden name was Adams and she married in 1898 to William Albert Turner. He died in 1925/26ish.
Emma died in March 1961. I haven't searched for his birth cert yet.
Arthur's fathers name according to the marriage cert was Alfred, a farm labourer. Any connections or is it a seperate family?
