found a medal in old family collection

Inscribed
Front - Napoleaon I, Empereur
Back - A ses compagnons De gloire sa derniere pensee St Helene
5 Mai 1821
something to do with the island of st helen under british occupation and 1821 is the death date of napoleon

any information would be appreciated

Hi, I can't view your attachments unfortunately (don't understand the reason).
I think the medal you're referring to is the Saint Helene Medal, created by Napoleon III in 1857 and awarded to French veterans of Napoleon's wars still alive at the time.
