My g.g.grandfather emigrated to the US sometime between 1840 and 1845, is there any way I can find when he left the UK and where he arrived in the US, also wether he arrived alone or accompanied? Any help appreciated.

The records themselves are not available online, you would either have to visit TNA yourself or employ a researcher. I've not done any research in this area myself so cannot comment on the likelihood of success.
