Hi I just joined today so am finding my way. Both mine and my wife's families were long standing residents of Foulness Isalnd. The names being Mead, Rawlings, Ducker. In particular I am trying to trace details of the wedding of Sam Mead to Emma Nokes. This wedding took place sometime between the 1861 and the 1871 census. I am not sure where Emma hailed from so if they were married in her parish I don't know where to start. It is not listed at the FRC. I would apreciate any suggestions of possible sources or perhaps any information that you already might have regarding Sam Mead.
Thanks
Roger Mead

Hi Roger
Have you got the details from the 1871? The details show Sam as from Foulness & Emma from Chelmsford, which I know has quite a few churches. It also shows what appears to be their first child as being born c.1865 so you should hopefully find the marriage around or before that time.
You say you have looked at the FRC indexes for the marriage but have you tried going to
http://www.
ancestry.co.uk/
where you can look at the indexes from home? Not sure if you know but it looks like Foulness would be Ruchford district if the marriage was in his parish.
Hope this helps a little

I should have said Roger that the indexes are free to look at even if you do not have a subscription to Ancestry.

Foulness Sam Mead
Sally thanks for your response. It triggered a memory in a relative that Emma might have come from Stock (which is a village near Chelmsford) So I think that might be a good starting place. I have also located a photograph which Emma gave to Sam on 30th November 1864 which she signed Nokes rather than Mead so that narrows the gap as well.
Thanks again
Roger

Hi viva71, As the person who strted this thread in 2006 only made two posts I don't think they are still active on the forum. If you click on their name you can see if they are available by email and that might be the best way to contact them - or simply "google" their name and see what happens.
