Judge family in Middlesex

Am trying to find relations of Charles Alfred Judge (my grandfather) born 1897 in Middlesex. Father - Charles Judge, mother Alice (nee Lucy). Have failed to turn up a marriage certificate for the parents. The only reference I have is that in 1901 census, both charles were living in Wimbledon. My grandfather had siblings but at this time we have no names. I'm hoping that some of this info may be relevant to someone who might know anything of the family.

Have you got a copy of the birth certificate for Charles Alfred Judge if not that is the first step. It will confirm the mothers maiden name and hopefully the fathers.

Mistakes do occur in censuses and the names as listed there my not be correct.
Once you have the parents information confirmed you may need to look back over a long period if there are known to be a number of other siblings.

Yes i have the birth cert for Charles Alfred - which is how I know the parents names. Charles Judge and Alice Judge(formerly Lucy)

I have been unable to find a marriage cert, and any mention in censuses prior to 1901, where Alice is not at same address. I have found a death of an Alice Judge in 1899, 2 yrs after birth of Charles alfred, but can't verify this is his mother.

From 1901 census - Charles was listed as 46 yrs and born in Reading, but I can't find a record of this either.

It all seems to be going nowhere at present.

In the earlier censuses is Alice listed if so where is her place of birth. I had a quick look on FreeBMD but could not find their marriage but it is incomplete, have you used other sources? I was unable to find a partner for a Charles Judge for an 1890 December registration. Have you looked under her name for this year and quarter using Ancestry or 1837online?


Of course it is possible that they did not marry, couples experienced all sorts of difficulties then.
