My grandfather was an ARP warden during WW2, he was killed when on duty in around 1941. Has anyone any ideas where I could find records relating to ARP wardens.
His name was Joseph Henry Burrows and the lived in the Ladywood area

SBS, are you aware of this entry on the website of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission?

They were organised by local authorities so Birmingham City Archives might be a likely place.

Thanks Sharon, I had always been told he died in the Wiggin Street area, but knew little more. It also confirmed to me when he was born, as there was some dipute over that.
Thanks for the suggestion Peter, the link Sharon gave me above took me straight to the page showing his death.
Thanks both for your time.
Sue
