Default The Murder of Annie Holmes

    Hello
I am trying to locate a copy of 'The Murder of Annie Holmes', which I think is an article rather than a book. It was written by Dr A M Parsons and refers to a posoning case in St Neots in 1898.

Does anyone know in which publication the article appeared and where I may obtain a copy, please? I am very distantly related to the victim and the perpetrator.

    Regards and thanks

    Kim

    Hi Kim,

If you can get access to "The Times Digital Archive 1785 - 1985" there are a number of very informative news articles about the evil Walter Horsford and poor Annie Holmes - including Walters execution by hanging in Cambridge Gaol on 28 June 1898.

My local library has access to the archive for free.

    Thanks, Doug.

I do have the stuff from the Times and from the Hunts Post...I've also seen the file at the Public Record Office. I think A M Parsons gives more information about the victim, who seems to have been neglected in the press at the time - apart from the suggestions she was a loose woman!

    Best wishes

    Kim
