I'm hoping someone can find a young Henry MACKLEY for me.
He claims to have been born about 1832 to parents William and Elizabeth.
I have found a likely family on the IGI christening a Henry at Croxton Kerrial in 1833. Henry married in South Australia in 1857, so he may be still in England(aged abt 18/19) in 1851.
thanks
Christine

Hi Sheryles,
yes, I am still here. (You can click on a persons name and see what their activity has been on the forum!).
He certainly appears to by my Henry, I have since found that he arrived via South Australia in 1855. I am related via his wife, Ann Chapman (Parish) born 1837 Caldecote, Cambridgeshire.
Just as well I checked todays post again! I had missed your post and didn't read the thread updates posted via email. I will be more careful!
Are we related?
Christine.

Hello again Sheryles
I have been looking at your posts and worked out our connection.
You must have the marriage certificate of George SHARP and Mary Jane MACKLEY to know his parents names, as there were three births in South Australia about 1855 to choose from for him, and his death certificate did not have parents.
Elizabeth Jane is my second cousin (twice removed)
cheers
Christine

Henry Mackley landed in Adelaide in 1856 on the ship "Oriental" from Portsmouth. In 1862 (I think) he married Anne Chapman in the Primitave Methodist Chappel in Propect Village north of Adelaide. The newspaper of the day says he is the son of William Mackley (deceased) of Croxton Kerrial. They had a son called John (my great grandfather) who farmed north of Natimuk in the Wimmera and is burried at Horsham

Hope this helps.
