Default Help needed with occupation please

I'm generally pretty good at deciphering the enumerator's handwriting but this one is baffling me. Could someone take a look for me please?

    1891 Census
    John F Ricketts
London, St Luke, City Road, District 8
    GSU no: 6095342
ED Institution or vessel no: 8
    Folio: 36
    Image no: 2

Hope I have given enough information for it to be located easily. In 1881 he was a carrier's clerk but this doesn't seem to bear any resemblance.

    Thanks

    Hi Ruth,
    Pianoforte tuner.
Apart from the name of the person the most important info people need to look up census queries like this are the piece, folio and page numbers. The piece number is found separately either to the right or the bottom of the page (Just very occasionally I've seen it on the left). For 1841 and 1851 it begins HO107 and for later censuses it begins RG. The page number is often the same as the image number but not always.
For anyone else willing to check RG12/232 folio 36 page 2
    Pam

You know I had that RG number at the top of my page of jottings and completely forgot to put it on my post. Thank you so much for going to all the effort of tracking down the correct page for me. I would never have got pianoforte tuner if I had stared at it for another 10 years!

    Thumbs up

I'll agree with Pam. And the enumerator has helpfully pencilled in Mus Inst to help him in collation later!

Thank you too, Tommy, for having a look. I will try to remember that useful little 'trick' of checking on the next census when I next come across something I can't make head nor tail of.
