I have been on the GRO's web site as we speak trying to order a copy of Walter's birth certificate but it keeps telling me the page number needs more than I am putting in, never mind I'll keep on trying.

If it's the entry quoted by Annie, I've just checked the image of the original GRO index and I can confirm the entry is Sep 1903 DAVIS, Walter Henry, W.Ham, Volume 4a, Page 535.

I recieved a copy of the birth certificate, sadly I don't think it's the right one.
the marriage certificate I have of Walter states his fathers name as Thomas Henry, the birth certificate I recieved says George Henry Davis.
