    Question Great Uncle Harry Norman

Private Harry Norman service Number 5833 12th Prince of Wales Royal Lancerswas killed 24th February 1915 in Flanders.
Where can we find info on his battalion movements and battlegrounds prior to his death? Was this a cavalry battalion?Did they all have to ride?
Would be grateful if someone could point us in the right direction!
    Many thanks
    Sue Norman

I think you probably want the War Diaries at the National Archives.

WO 97/1140 for the 12th (Prince of Wales) Lancers

12th (POW) Lancers was Cavalry Regiment. On 4th Aug 1914 it was at Norwich as part of the 5th Cavalry Brigade. It moved to France with the Brigade as an independent formation on 6th October 1914 and 10 days later became part of 2nd Cavalry Division with whom it stayed for the remainder of the war.

The Regiment's War Diary is at the National Archive, Kew, document number
WO 95/1140 and will tell you what was happening on the day Harry Norman was killed.
