Those interested in how monasteries affected medieval life may like to read three articles I have written about Cistercian monasteries in Yorkshire - The themes explored include how the Cistercians contributed greatly to economic growth and also their controversial policy of depopulating villages too close to monastic buildings.

Hello Oliver
I know nothing about Canonsleigh Abbey, but a look at the National Archives site has produced some information which you may be able to follow up. The link is http://www.nra.nationalarchives.gov....asp?SIR=O65366
Do any of your Lampr(e)ys come from the Braunton area of North Devon?
Best wishes
Ann
